Marketing & Operations Associate in Singapore

The Opportunity.

The High Level

Hustle Fund is a pre-seed fund with offices in Silicon Valley and Singapore. Our core investment strategy is to invest in teams who demonstrate relentless speed. 

Our first step is working closely with early stage founders to monitor their speed/execution before qualifying their startups for our larger checks. We have 90+ portfolio companies across North America and Southeast Asia. 

The goal: to support a diverse population of founders who have the vision, strategy, and hustle to turn their ideas into massive business opportunities.

The Role

We are looking for a marketing and operations professional based in Singapore who can assist in our events, digital marketing, and business operations efforts.

This person will report to the Head of Operations, who is based in San Francisco. So someone who is a self-starter, highly motivated, and who can hold themselves accountable is a must.

In this role, you will help lead event planning and production, content marketing initiatives, developing and growing strategic partnerships, conduct audits of our internal processes, and create solutions to increase efficiency within the company.

While the role will start out as a mixed bag of projects, over time you’ll have the opportunity to narrow your focus to marketing or business operations. We’ll work with you to develop your skills in the areas that best suit your professional goals.

What you would do.

Live Event Planning + Production: You will work closely with our Head of Operations and Southeast Asia Investments team to prioritize, plan, and execute live events in Singapore, Indonesia, and Vietnam.  

This includes speaker outreach, venue and vendor coordination, food and beverage, A/V setup (don’t worry, we’ll teach you how), acting as point of contact for our guests, and online communications.

Online Event Planning + Production: You will help create processes around hosting online events, coordinate with speakers, communicate with guests, assist with marketing these events to the Hustle Fund audience as well as local startup communities.

Strategic Partnerships: You will develop and grow relationships with strategic partners, including local startup communities, accelerators, media personnel, event sponsors, entrepreneurs of interest, etc.

Digital Content: You will assist in producing the Hustle Fund newsletter, podcast episodes, social media posts, and any other content initiatives that we believe will strengthen Hustle Fund’s brand and add value to our community.

Business Operations: You will work closely with our Head of Operations to identify obstacles / areas of improvement throughout the biz. You’ll gain a deep understanding of how the company operates, and work toward implementing solutions. The goal is to remove friction and increase efficiency

Qualities you should have.

Hustle: You’re someone who doesn’t let a lack of resources get in your way; you use what you have to get further, and be faster than those with more resources and experiences. We are a startup ourselves. If you’re looking for a cushy VC job, this is not the right place.

People Skills: You are a nice person with a high emotional intelligence. You are empathetic, open-minded, and quickly develop strong connections with others. You are collaborative, reliable, and able to navigate relationships in the startup ecosystem. 

Manically Detail Oriented: You can juggle many projects at once, reliably carry projects over the finish line, and love when things are alphabetized.

Communication Skills: You are an excellent communicator, both online and offline. Online, you know how to deliver a message succinctly but without sacrificing your personality. And offline, you can read your audience skillfully, understanding when to engage in small talk and when to get down to business. 

Prior Experience: You have 3-8 years of professional experience that serves as good preparation for content marketing (writing and curating content), event planning, customer service, and operations. This often includes some combination of community management, office management, executive assistant, and operations or marketing associate at a high-growth startup, investment bank, recruiting firm or other experiences that foster the necessary skills.

Academic Background: We’re open to a wide range of academic backgrounds.

Languages: You’re fluent in English, and ideally one or more Southeast Asian languages (Bahasa, Vietnamese, Thai, Burmese)

Hard Skills: You’re comfortable with Google Suite -- including Mail, Calendar, Drive, Sheets, Slides, etc. Bonus points for familiarity with MailChimp, EventBrite, and Slack.
